Twenty Two Years In The Trade And Nobody Told Me A Knee Has Four Parts

September, 2026 By Ray Doyle

Twenty two years ago the old timers told me to wear knee pads and I rolled my eyes at them. I am 51 now and I sit in the van for ten minutes at the end of a shift before my legs will straighten out properly. I have taken ibuprofen most mornings for eight years, which got me through the day and did nothing at all about the day after. What changed was not a product. It was a guy on a trades thread explaining what is actually inside a knee, which is where somebody mentioned Strides Daily. I did not buy it because of a promise. I bought it because I turned a bottle over and counted. Five things nobody told me.

1. A knee is four parts, not one

Nobody had ever laid this out for me and it took about thirty seconds. A joint is four separate parts, and they do not move at the same speed.

The part

What supports it

How fast

The cushion

GlucosaGreen glucosamine

slow, weeks 4 to 8

The fluid

Hyaluronic acid

medium, weeks 3 to 6

Connective tissue

MSM

medium, weeks 3 to 6

Soreness the day after you use it

Turmeric, boswellia, white willow bark

fast, weeks 1 to 3

Every joint pill you have heard of is built around one of those four. Usually one, because one active is cheap to make and easy to put on the front of a label. That table is the whole reason the aisle has never worked for anybody on my crew.

2. Whatever you took and quit on is one of the seven

The bottle I take now has seven actives covering all four parts. Turmeric is one of the seven. Glucosamine is one of the seven. Boswellia, MSM, hyaluronic acid, white willow bark and black pepper are the rest.

So whatever you tried once and wrote off was not fake and it was not nothing. It was a seventh, working on the fastest of the four, while the other three went untouched.

That is why every man on a job site has the same story about the same aisle. On a trades thread, a guy asked what still hurts after all these years, and the top reply was: “A better question is, after 36 years in, what Doesn’t hurt ??” Under it, somebody on why he will not wear a brace: “I’d feel a little silly with a knee brace maybe I’m too prideful.” A whole thread of us, all covering a quarter of the problem and calling the whole category a con when it did not fix us.

Other people, in their own words

Comments from public trades threads about joints. Nobody here is talking about Strides Daily and nobody here was asked about it.

“My knees, I’m just getting home from an overnight and my knees are throbbing like a metronome.”

-Electrician, 45yr

“I’m in constant pain when I sit up from sitting, if I have to kneel to fix something my knees feel like they’re on uncooked rice”

-Carpenter, 20yr

“It usually only hurts/ is stiff in the morning and is worse if the weather is changing.”

-Electrician 55yr

“My dumb ass thought I’d never get old….then I got old.”

-Welder, 40yr

You do not need the other three points to act on that one. Whatever you quit on was a seventh, and the ninety day pack is the one that matches the window.

3. Covering four parts costs capsules, so count what they want from you

Here is the part with a catch in it. Covering four parts instead of one means more actives, and more actives usually means more capsules. Which is why the big number on the front of a bottle is almost never the number in a capsule.

A bottle advertising 1500mg often means four. Some want six. I have counted nine. Turn it over and read the serving size before you read anything on the front, because that number is what covering a whole joint actually costs you every morning, and you already know how that ends. Nobody is taking nine capsules in a work van at six thirty in the morning. You will do it for a week.

Strides Daily is two a day, with food. Not four, not nine. A regimen you quit in March covers nothing at all.

4. Two weeks of nothing is not a red flag

Look at the speed column again. The soreness side moves first. The cushion and the connective tissue are slow, because that is what those ingredients do.

So the first two weeks can feel like nothing, and the smaller things tend to ease around week four to six. That is the honest shape of it and it is exactly why the guys who tried something for a month came back and said the whole aisle is a con. They quit three weeks before the slow half was due.

You will spend over a hundred dollars on a good pair of knee pads without blinking. Pads protect the outside of the knee. They do not do one thing for what is wearing out inside it.

5. Count it yourself. Then go and get your mornings back.

This is the only thing on this page worth anything and it costs nothing.

Do not believe me and do not believe a thread either. Pull up the supplement facts panel. Count the actives. Then go and count what is on the bottle in your cabinet and see how many of the four parts it covers.

That comparison is the whole reason I bought. There are 60 days to send it back if the counting turns out to be wrong, which means the only thing this test costs you is the counting. Pride has already cost me more than that.

What I am actually buying is the first ten minutes of my morning. Ninety days of it, and sixty of those days come back if I want them.

What getting your mornings back costs

Seven actives across all four parts of the joint, every amount printed on the panel

Two capsules a day with food. Not four, not nine

Fermented glucosamine, so it is shellfish free

Made in the USA in a cGMP registered facility, batch tested

60 days to send it back, which is longer than most men give a bottle before they quit on it

3 bottles, 90 days. Current pricing is on the product page.

Two capsules a day. Ninety days of cover.

How long before you notice anything

Here is the honest version, same as what is printed on the bottle.

It builds over the first two weeks. Through those two weeks most men notice nothing at all, and that is not a sign it is failing. The soreness actives move first. The cushion and connective tissue are slower by design, and the smaller things tend to ease somewhere between week four and week six.

That is why the guarantee runs 60 days and not 30. One bottle is 30 days, which runs out at exactly the point where it is still too early to know anything. Two bottles is the honest quantity for the test, and the third is free. Sixty days on a bottle is better terms than you will get on a pair of pads.

Who this is not for

Worth saying who this is not for.

The capsule shell is gelatin, so it is not suitable if you are vegetarian or vegan. Shellfish free is not the same thing as either.

White willow bark contains salicin. If you are on blood thinners, or you are sensitive to aspirin, speak to your doctor before you start. Same if you are on anything already prescribed for your joints.

And if a knee has been diagnosed with something specific, or you have had work done on it, be straight about what this is. It is joint support. It goes alongside what a doctor has you on. It is not a replacement for one and it is not a reason to keep putting off the appointment.

Where you can actually get it

Only on the Strides Daily site. Not in a pharmacy, not on Amazon, not at the merchants, and not through a third party seller.

Three bottles is the one I would start on. That is 90 days, and it exists because a 60 day test needs more than the 30 days a single bottle holds. The third bottle in that pack is free.

One bottle runs 30 days, which is the pack that runs out right when it is still too early to tell. Five bottles runs 150 days. What each of them costs is on the product page.

Subscribe and save takes 25% off and you can stop it whenever.

The free third bottle only exists on the three pack, and the three pack only exists here.

Questions people ask first

What makes this different from what I already tried?

Coverage rather than strength. Most bottles are built around one of the four parts of a joint. This has seven actives across all four. Whatever you took and quit on is almost certainly one of the seven.

How big are the capsules and how many do I take?

Two a day, with food. That is the full dose, not the per-capsule figure. There is no four-a-day or nine-a-day version of this.

How long until I notice anything?

It builds over the first two weeks and most men notice nothing in that window. Smaller things tend to ease around weeks four to six. Nobody here is promising you a week.

Is it safe with what I already take?

White willow bark contains salicin, so check with your doctor if you are on blood thinners or aspirin sensitive. Same if you are on joint medication.

What if it does nothing?

Sixty days to send it back. That window is deliberately longer than a single bottle lasts.

Sixty days on a bottle is better terms than you will ever get on a pair of pads.
