The Morning My Arm Stopped Working, And What Nobody Explained After

September, 2026 By Carol Brennan

I could not fasten my own bra on a Tuesday in June. Not sore. Could not. I am 51, and for about a week before that I had been blaming my mattress. I went looking for an explanation and what I found instead was a thread full of women describing my exact week, plus one of them explaining something about joints that no doctor, physical therapist or pharmacist had ever said to me in a sentence. That thread is also where somebody mentioned Strides Daily, which is what I take now, alongside everything else I am doing. I did not switch because of a promise. I switched because I counted. Five things nobody had explained.

1. A shoulder is four parts, not one

This is the sentence I had never heard. A joint is not one thing that either works or does not. It is four separate parts, and they do not move at the same speed.

The part

What supports it

How fast

The cushion

GlucosaGreen glucosamine

slow, weeks 4 to 8

The fluid

Hyaluronic acid

medium, weeks 3 to 6

Connective tissue

MSM

medium, weeks 3 to 6

Soreness the day after you use it

Turmeric, boswellia, white willow bark

fast, weeks 1 to 3

Almost every bottle on the shelf is built around one of those four. Usually one, because a single active is cheap to make and easy to print on the front. I had been taking turmeric for a year for my hands and had quietly assumed it covered whatever this was as well. Look at the table. It covers the bottom row.

2. Whatever you already take is one of the seven

The bottle I take now has seven actives across all four parts. Turmeric is one of the seven. Glucosamine is one of the seven. Boswellia, MSM, hyaluronic acid, white willow bark and black pepper are the rest.

So the turmeric was not fake and it was not nothing. It was a seventh, working on the fastest of the four parts, while the other three went unattended, for a year, while my arm got worse and I kept blaming a mattress.

I was not the only one blaming the wrong thing. One woman in that thread had spent months on it: “I thought my 65 pound husky pulled on his leash so hard while I was walking him and caused a muscle sprain (my poor boy, I blamed him for months!).” Another was three years and several treatments in, and had worked out the real cost: “Cortisone shots, PT, shock wave therapy….3 years in and acupuncture and myofascial have helped the most. Of course out of pocket and adding up to nearly $1,000 so far.”

Other people, in their own words

Comments from public menopause threads about joints. Nobody here is talking about Strides Daily and nobody here was asked about it.

“Lack of mobility in my right shoulder. Like it does this weird movement and I can’t get it to glide or move normally.”

- Jill, 43

“It happened in my left arm with the clicking when I was drying my hair. It felt like a little electrical shock in my shoulder; a pinching, tingling feeling.”

- Alisa, 45

“I automatically reacted to catch a tennis ball that was rolling over the table and experienced enough pain to nearly make me cry.”

- Kate, 49

“By the end of my work day it was much worse and I could barely move it.  I struggled on for several more days with it being absolute agony at night.”

- Anne, 55

You do not have to read the other three points to act on that one. A year of turmeric was a seventh, and the ninety day pack matches the window.

GET MY ARM BACK

3. Coverage costs pill count, so check what they want you to swallow

Here is the catch in covering four parts instead of one. More actives usually means more capsules, which is why the big number on the front of a bottle is almost never the number inside a capsule.

A bottle advertising 1500mg often means four. Some want six. I have counted nine. Turn it over and read the serving size before anything on the front, because that is the number that decides whether you are still taking this in three months, and right now you cannot lift your arm above your shoulder. A nine capsule morning is not a plan, it is a thing you abandon.

Strides Daily is two a day, with food. Not four, not nine.

4. Two weeks of nothing is not a red flag

Look at the speed column again. The soreness side moves first. The cushion and the connective tissue are slow, because that is simply what those ingredients do.

So the first two weeks can feel like nothing at all, and the smaller things tend to ease somewhere around week four to six. That is the honest shape of it, and being told it plainly is the only reason I was willing to start, because I had already spent a year on something and could not tell you whether it had done anything.

Plenty of women in that thread will tell you this is hormonal. They may well be right about you, and this page is not an argument with them. It is joint support, and it goes next to whatever you and your doctor are already doing.

5. Count it yourself. Then go and get your arm back.

This is the only advice on this page worth anything and it costs nothing.

Do not believe me and do not believe a thread. Pull up the supplement facts panel and count the actives. Then go and count the ones on whatever is in your cabinet already, and mark which of the four rows each one lands on.

That comparison is the whole reason I bought. There are 60 days to send it back, which is a cheaper way to be wrong than most of the things in that woman’s $1,000.

What I am actually buying is my own arm. Ninety days of it, and sixty of those days come back if I want them.

What getting your arm back costs

Seven actives across all four parts of the joint, every amount printed on the panel

Two capsules a day with food. Not four, not nine

Fermented glucosamine, so it is shellfish free

Made in the USA in a cGMP registered facility, batch tested

60 days to send it back, which is longer than most people give a bottle before they quit on it

3 bottles, 90 days. Current pricing is on the product page.

Two capsules a day. Ninety days of cover.

How long before you notice anything

Here is the honest version, the same one printed on the bottle.

It builds over the first two weeks. Through those two weeks most people notice nothing at all, and that is not a sign it is failing. The soreness actives move first. The cushion and connective tissue are slower by design, and the smaller things tend to ease somewhere between week four and week six.

That is why the guarantee runs 60 days and not 30. One bottle is 30 days, which runs out at exactly the point where it is still too early to know anything. Two bottles is the honest quantity for a test, and the third is free.

Who this is not for

This is not for everyone and that is worth saying plainly.

The capsule shell is gelatin, so it is not suitable if you are vegetarian or vegan. Shellfish free is not the same thing as either of those.

White willow bark contains salicin. If you take blood thinners, or you are sensitive to aspirin, speak to your doctor before starting. The same goes if you are pregnant, nursing, or on medication for your joints.

And if an arm has stopped moving properly, get it looked at. This is joint support. It sits alongside physical therapy, alongside whatever your doctor has you on, alongside whatever you are doing about the hormonal side. It is not a substitute for any of them and it is not a reason to cancel an appointment.

Where you can actually get it

Only on the Strides Daily site. Not in a pharmacy, not on Amazon, and not through a third party seller.

Three bottles is the 90 day pack. It exists because a 60 day test needs more than the 30 days a single bottle holds. The third bottle in that pack is free.

One bottle runs 30 days, which runs out exactly when it is still too early to tell. Five bottles runs 150 days. Current pricing for every pack size is on the product page.

Subscribe and save takes 25% off and you can stop it whenever.

The free third bottle only exists on the three pack, and the three pack only exists here.

Questions people ask first

What makes this different from what I already tried?

Coverage rather than potency. Most bottles are built around one of the four parts of a joint. This has seven actives across all four. Whatever you are taking now is almost certainly one of the seven.

How big are the capsules and how many do I take?

Two a day, with food. That is the full dose, not the per-capsule figure. There is no four-a-day or nine-a-day version of this.

How long until I notice anything?

It builds over the first two weeks and most people notice nothing in that window. Smaller things tend to ease around weeks four to six. Nobody here will promise you a week.

Is it safe with what I already take?

White willow bark contains salicin, so check with your doctor if you are on blood thinners or aspirin sensitive. Same if you are pregnant, nursing, or on joint medication. It is joint support and it sits alongside whatever else you are doing, including anything hormonal.

What if it does nothing?

Sixty days to send it back. That window is deliberately longer than a single bottle lasts.

Sixty days to be wrong, against the nearly a thousand that woman was into with no way out of any of it.
