I Took Glucosamine. Then Turmeric. That Was Two Of Seven.

September, 2026 By Diane Kessler

I leave my keys upstairs now. I go without them until somebody else is heading up. I am 49, I have been awake at three in the morning more nights than not this year, and I have bought two joint supplements in four years and quit both of them. Glucosamine first. Then turmeric, which I still take. Neither one did what I wanted and I decided the whole category was a racket. Then somebody in a thread explained why both of them half worked, and mentioned Strides Daily, which is what I take now. It was not a promise that convinced me. It was arithmetic. Here are the five things nobody had bothered to explain.

1. A joint is four parts, not one

Here is the thing I had never been told, and it took thirty seconds. A joint is four separate parts, and they do not move at the same speed.

The part

What supports it

How fast

The cushion

GlucosaGreen glucosamine

slow, weeks 4 to 8

The fluid

Hyaluronic acid

medium, weeks 3 to 6

Connective tissue

MSM

medium, weeks 3 to 6

Soreness the day after you use it

Turmeric, boswellia, white willow bark

fast, weeks 1 to 3

Now find my two on that table. Glucosamine is the cushion, top row, the slowest one there is. Turmeric is the soreness, bottom row, the fastest. I had taken the two ends of the table, years apart, one bottle at a time, and never once touched the two rows in the middle.

2. Taken one at a time, you never cover the middle

The bottle I take now has seven actives across all four parts. Glucosamine is one of the seven. Turmeric is one of the seven. Boswellia, MSM, hyaluronic acid, white willow bark and black pepper are the other five.

So neither of my two was fake and neither was nothing. Between them they were two sevenths, sitting at opposite ends of the table, with the fluid and the connective tissue in the middle going unattended the whole time.

That is the actual reason those groups read the way they do. One woman: “I wake up at 3 am, feeling like my hips are being crushed in a vice.” Another, which is the one that stopped me: “My husband doesn’t get why I’m so slow and grumpy in the morning.” None of them are describing a supplement that failed. They are describing two rows of a four row table.

Other people, in their own words

Comments from public threads about knees and joints. Nobody here is talking about Strides Daily and nobody here was asked about it.

“I have to sit on the edge of the bed for 10 minutes just to get my knees moving.”

- Juliet, 52

“It’s so embarrassing not being able to perk right up from a chair in a public place.”

- Hannah, 47

“It kills me that I can’t run around after him.”

- Elliot, 46

“Waking up in the middle of night because I was sleeping on the side (like my whole life before) and my two knees that touched had started hurting each other. Crazy.”

- Rebecca, 55

You already know which two rows you are on. You do not need the other three points to go and cover the other two.

3. Coverage costs pill count, so check what they want you to swallow

There is a catch in covering four parts instead of one. More actives usually means more capsules, which is why the big number on the front of a bottle is almost never the number in a capsule.

A bottle advertising 1500mg often means four. Some want six. I have counted nine on a label. Turn it over and read the serving size before you read a single word on the front, because that number is what covering the whole joint is going to cost you every morning for a year, and it is the number that decides whether you are still doing this in March.

Strides Daily is two a day, with food. Not four, not nine. That was what made me willing, because I have quit two bottles already and a regimen you abandon covers nothing at all.

4. Two weeks of nothing is not a red flag

Look at that speed column one more time, because it explains both of my failures. Turmeric is fast. Glucosamine is the slowest thing on the table, four to eight weeks.

I gave the glucosamine about five weeks and stopped. I was quitting more or less exactly when it was due to start doing anything, and then I spent three years telling people it did not work.

The first two weeks of anything in this category can feel like nothing, and the smaller things tend to ease around week four to six. I would rather have that said to me plainly than be sold a miracle. Anything promising a different answer by Friday is telling you about itself, not about your knees.

5. Count it yourself. Then go and get your nights back.

This is the only advice on this page worth anything and it is free.

Do not believe me and do not believe a comment section. Pull up the supplement facts panel and count the actives. Then go and count what is in your own cabinet, and mark which of the four rows each one lands on.

If you are taking turmeric, you already know which row you are on and you can see the three you are not. That comparison is the whole reason I bought. There are 60 days to send it back, so the only thing the test costs you is the counting.

What I am actually buying is a night I sleep through. The pack runs ninety days, and sixty of those days are refundable.

What getting your nights back costs

Seven actives across all four parts of the joint, every amount printed on the panel

Two capsules a day with food. Not four, not nine

Fermented glucosamine, so it is shellfish free

Made in the USA in a cGMP registered facility, batch tested

60 days to send it back, which is longer than most people give a bottle before they quit on it

3 bottles, 90 days. Current pricing is on the product page.

Two capsules a day. Ninety days of cover.

Buying the seven separately is where the routine falls apart

Covering all seven on your own means seven separate bottles to buy, reorder and keep track of, and somewhere between seven and twenty capsules to get through every day. This is two capsules from one bottle. That is the difference that decides whether you are still doing it in week eight.

How long before you notice anything

Here is the honest version, the same one printed on the bottle.

It builds over the first two weeks. Through those two weeks most people notice nothing at all, and that is not a sign it is failing. The soreness actives move first. The cushion and connective tissue are slower by design, and the smaller things tend to ease somewhere between week four and week six.

That is why the guarantee runs 60 days rather than 30. One bottle is 30 days, which runs out at exactly the point where it is still too early to know anything. That is the mistake I made with the glucosamine. Two bottles is the honest quantity for a test, and the third is free.

Who this is not for

This is not for everyone and it is worth being clear about who.

The capsule shell is gelatin, so it is not suitable if you are vegetarian or vegan. Shellfish free is not the same thing as either of those.

White willow bark contains salicin. If you take blood thinners, or you are sensitive to aspirin, speak to your doctor first. The same goes if you are pregnant, nursing, or on medication for your joints.

This is joint support and nothing more than that. It is not hormone therapy and it has no opinion about what you and your doctor are doing on that front. It sits alongside it.

Where you can actually get it

Only on the Strides Daily site. Not in a pharmacy, not on Amazon, and not through a third party seller.

The three bottle pack runs 90 days. It exists because a 60 day test needs more than the 30 days a single bottle holds. The third bottle in that pack is free.

One bottle runs 30 days. That is the pack I quit on last time, because it ran out before the slow half had shown up. There is also a five bottle pack that runs 150 days.

Subscribe and save takes 25% off and you can stop it whenever.

The free third bottle only exists on the three pack, and the three pack only exists here.

Sixty days. Send it back if nothing shifts, opened bottles included.

Questions people ask first

What makes this different from what I already tried?

Coverage rather than potency. Most bottles are built around one of the four parts of a joint. This has seven actives across all four. Glucosamine and turmeric are both among the seven.

How big are the capsules and how many do I take?

Two a day, with food. That is the full dose, not the per-capsule figure. There is no four-a-day or nine-a-day version of this.

How long until I notice anything?

It builds over the first two weeks and most people notice nothing in that window. Smaller things tend to ease around weeks four to six. Nobody here will promise you a week.

Is it safe with what I already take?

White willow bark contains salicin, so check with your doctor if you are on blood thinners or aspirin sensitive. Same if you are pregnant, nursing, or on joint medication. It is joint support and it sits alongside anything else you are doing.

What if it does nothing?

Sixty days to send it back. That window is deliberately longer than a single bottle lasts.

Ninety days is three times what I gave the glucosamine before I quit on it and told everyone it did not work.
